John Milton: Paradise Lost

On this website you will find the complete annotated Dutch translation that Jules Grandgagnage made of John Milton's Paradise Lost (1674 edition in twelve books and approximately 10,000 lines of verse).

Published in 2023, this is the most recent translation that, like Peter Verstegen's translation from 2003 and Van Zanten's from 1728, adheres to Milton's iambic pentameter (five charges per line) and respects the length of the work (10,000 lines). . A slimmed down version of the published book has been included on the website about Milton's Paradise Lost for the benefit of interested readers and students.
