Art from here in dance: Audiovisual teaching materials

In this collection you will find image and sound fragments about home-grown dancers and choreographers, together with more context and concrete teaching tips. Belgium has a very rich dance scene. We have a whole range of internationally renowned dancers, dance makers and companies. We are known for this even in America. Brussels is sometimes referred to as the unofficial European capital of contemporary dance. That's a shame for such a small country.

We chose these icons for you from a whole series of famous Flemish people: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, icon in contemporary dance, she plays with the building blocks of dance. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is a chameleon and busy bee, he conjures up an impressive choreography with every dance style. Wim Vanlessen, a top dancer with a mission, he also puts - us - ballet in the spotlight. Wim Vandekeybus is great at pushing boundaries, always on the cutting edge.

This collection was created in the context of a research project with the teacher training course of VIVES University of Applied Sciences and meemoo, the Flemish archives institute.
