Traces in music: Audiovisual teaching materials

In this collection you will find image and sound fragments about traces of the past in music compositions, together with more context and concrete teaching tips. People often go back to the way things used to be, but they like to adapt it to their will and implement it in the present day.

Within this theme we return to the Middle Ages and to the modern era to see what the songs sounded like then, how they were notated, what the importance of composers from our region is and what today's artists want to do with them.

With this collection, children learn to recognize and describe the music building blocks of melody, harmony and timbre. In the last fragment we also work on the building block shape.

This collection was created in the context of a research project with the teacher training course of VIVES University of Applied Sciences and meemoo, the Flemish archives institute.
