The Belgian Revolt, also known as the Belgian Revolution, was the armed revolt against the Dutch King William I in 1830. This revolt would lead to the independence of Belgium. After the French Revolution and the fall of Napoleon, the great powers of the 19th century, including the German states, the United Kingdom and Austria, had created a large state north of France, consisting of the present Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
