Research on the effect of book versus film on young people: Thesis Prize for Reading Promotion
The winner of the 2018-2020 Thesis Award Reading Promotion wrote relevant research for teachers: the Dutch Marlon Schotel (Tilburg University) compared the reading experience of young people with the book Wonder (RJ Palacio) with their viewing experience with the film adaptation. The readers turned out to be one foot ahead of the movie viewers. The researcher therefore argues for structural book talks in the classroom.
