Bitten healthy for Homies: Practical information on healthy nutrition and healthy eating habits for young people

Young people between the ages of 12 and 18 develop rapidly, both physically and psychologically. Puberty is accompanied by a growth spurt and therefore with specific needs and points of attention for optimal growth, development and health for now and later. Although they increasingly understand the function of nutrition and learn about the relationship between nutrition and health, they often find it difficult to resist the temptation of high-fat and sugary foods. The challenge of teaching young people to make healthy choices is great, but so worth it.

The booklet Healthy bites for Homies is aimed at young people and is full of tips and facts for young people to enjoy eating in a healthy way. In eight themes, young people discover the best way to refuel, how to deal with snacks, which foods can help the brain during the exam period, how they can teach their parents eating and cooking habits, which food experiments are tasty, what they can do to reduce their footprint while eating and that the food triangle is not a Pythagoras theorem but has everything it takes to eat healthy and balanced.

How, what, where, when, why and with whom young people eat tells something about the world of young people. And in that world there is room for diversity. Also in terms of food. Through a short online test, young people can find out which food type they are. The test is not intended to be classified into boxes, but to be able to provide more tailored practical tips.

In addition to parents, teachers also play an important role when it comes to healthy nutrition. With the booklet Healthy bites for Homies, teachers can inform and sensitize young people about the importance of a healthy diet for now and later and motivate them to participate in the nutritional policy at school.

The booklet is free to browse, download or order.
