I Respect: Pedagogical project on online privacy

This lesson project supports teachers and supervisors to think about how to use the internet and social media in a safe and constructive way with their students, based on videos and concrete situations. Respect is the key word: how do you treat yourself and others with respect online.

The project includes a video tool and a manual that enable teachers to easily teach the use of the Internet and social media. The tool is bilingual and every primary school in Belgium (both mainstream and special education) will receive an offline version. The DVD will also be available online.

The video tool with pedagogical sheets consists of ten lessons, each based on a video with a situation sketch and three (or four) possible solutions. The following topics are covered:

  1. secret and privacy;
  2. secure your account;
  3. alert on the net;
  4. internet and respect;
  5. internet and creativity;
  6. experiment and challenge online;
  7. e-reputation;
  8. personal information;
  9. cyberbullying;
  10. online information.
