Stumbling blocks: World War II at the local level

Stolpersteine , also known as stumbling stones, have been laid in many places in the Netherlands and Belgium in recent years. They are concrete stones of 10x10 cm with a brass plate on top. This plate contains at least the name, date of birth, place and date of death of a person who was expelled, deported, murdered or committed suicide by the Nazis. Stumbling stones literally bring history close. You will always find one nearby. That makes the stumbling blocks very useful in education.

In this assignment, students will work on this and make an assignment that shows the history of the Second World War and the persecution of the Jews at a local level.

With the assignment you will also find an instruction video on how the assignment can be used and in the appendix below the video is a document containing the assignment, which can be used as a manual when using it in the classroom.
