Pattern skills in kindergarten . Patterns are great fun to practice with. They introduce children to mathematics in a playful way. The insight into patterns is important for the mathematical development of your preschoolers.

Thanks to the cooperation of Nore Wijns, doctoral student Center for Instructional Psychology & Technology at KU Leuven, KlasCement for kindergarten can offer you information and concrete material from the testing ground 'Samen op weg met Toontje Patroontje'.

In this contribution you will find the manual for the first three weeks, together with the toddlers, to get started on patterns:

  • part 1: background of the testing ground;
  • part 2: the testing ground - practical;
  • part 3: the lessons about repeating patterns;
  • part 4: extra background on changing patterns.
