Anne Frank is a Jewish girl who had to subdue during the Second World War to escape the Nazis. During the dive in the backyard at the Prinsengracht she keeps a diary. Anne and the other defenders are deported and deported to the concentration camps. Of all eight subducers, only Anne's father, Otto Frank, survives.

After the war, the former shelter on the Prinsengracht threatens to expire. A number of citizens come into action. They set up the Anne Frank Foundation, with the aim of keeping the shelter. The Achterhuis was converted into a museum in the name of Anne Frank and her family. Today, the museum is one of the most crowded in Amsterdam.
